The Lawyers Committee for Human Rights has worked since 1978 to protect and promote the rights to which everyone is entitled under international law. We work both internationally and in the U.S. to: champion the rights of refugees; ensure justice for the most serious human rights crimes; extend a lifeline to local human rights defenders; and protect civil liberties and human rights in the United States after 9/11. Collaboration, innovation, and the search for lasting solutions are the hallmarks of our approach to the toughest human rights problems.

Fellowships with the Lawyers Committee offer recent law school graduates an opportunity to explore real world application of international human rights law in national settings, working closely with our highly qualified and experienced staff. Furman Fellows and Bernstein Fellows will work in one of LCHR’s program areas either in New York or Washington DC for one year. The 2004 Equal Justice Works Fellow will work with LCHR's Asylum program in the New York Office for 2 years.
