Tom Brokaw interviews honoree Archbishop Pius Ncube about the current situation
in Zimbabwe.Tom Brokaw, with honorees Xu Wenli and Xu Jin. Our 2002 Award Honoree, Saad Eddin Ibrahim, was released from jail earlier this year and spoke at this year’s dinner.
Michele Montas spoke about her involvement with the Lawyers Committee for
Human Rights. Michele, a journalist from Haiti, was one of our first asylum
clients. Archbishop Ncube, this year’s honoree, meets with Bill and Mary Anne Ford. Bill has been involved with the Lawyers Committee for nearly 25 years in seeking justice for his sister, Ita Ford, and the other churchwomen murdered in El Salvador in 1980.

Geraldine took part in the program and spoke about her work with the Lawyers
Committee for Human Rights to reveal the truth about her husband, Patrick
Finucane’s murder. Board
members Donald Donovan from Debevoise and Plimpton and James Ziglar, former
Commissioner of the INS. Jim spoke at the dinner about his experience working
with the Lawyers Committee while at the INS. Dinner Chair Ralph Schlosstein and Board member Leslie Gimbel congratulate Bill Zabel on his award Board member and former honoree, Li Lu shares stories with honoree Xu Wenli.
