Erin Corcoran
Staff Attorney, Asylum Program - Washington, D.C.
Joined the Lawyers Committee in 2002

Erin Corcoran is the staff attorney for the Asylum Program at Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (LCHR). Her primary responsibilities consist of ensuring that asylum clients receive high quality legal representation by providing training, advice, and legal updates to volunteer attorneys on asylum and immigration law. Erin is also active in advocacy efforts to ensure refugees and asylum seekers rights are protected.

Prior to coming to LCHR, Erin was as a staff attorney for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society in New York City, where she represented detained and non-detained indigent asylum seekers. In New York, Erin also worked on improving the asylum procedures and conditions for unaccompanied minors. Additionally, she spent time in Southern Africa working as a consultant for the United High Commissioner for Refugees where she identified refugees in need of resettlement. Recent publications include, "The Politics of Forced Displacement: A Review of The Price of Indifference: Refugees in Humanitarian Action in the New Century by Arthur C. Helton, by Erin Corcoran and Nadia Yakoob, SAIS Review (Spring 2003) and Asking for a Note from Your Torturer: Corroboration and Authentification Requirements in Asylum, Withholding, and Torture Claims, by Virgil Weibe and Serena Parker with Erin Corcoran and Anna Gallagher, Immigration and Nationality Law Handbook, Vol. 1 (2001-02). She is admitted to the New York State Bar, E.D.N.Y and S.D.N.Y.
